Problem: A newly created VMWare 2.0 VM does not have network connectivity.
Cause: The new machine is copied from another existing VM, and it has the same MAC address with the existing VM
Solution: Generate a new mac address. Follow the instruction below:
– shutdown the troubled machine
– Delete the following lines from the .vmx file
Ethernet0.addressType = "generated" uuid.location = "56 4d 7b 51 ca a9 de 04-4d e0 37 4b 67 82 5f bd" uuid.bios = "56 4d 7b 51 ca a9 de 04-4d e0 37 4b 67 82 5f bd" ethernet0.generatedAddress = "00:0c:29:82:5f:bd" ethernet0.generatedAddressOffset = "0"
– Turn on the troubled VM, VM host will automatically generate a new MAC address and problem solved.
